Serpentine setup 67-72
Quick question does a late 80s Silverado factory serpentine setup work in 67-72 trucks? Will it cause any clearance problems with the power steering pump and lower hose? I bought a later 350 it already has the correct water pump with the setup btw.

Re: Serpentine setup 67-72
I used a serpentine set-up from a '93 GMC. Used alternator, a/c comp. p/s pump from the same application. No clearance problems. Although I'm not sure what sequence of years are strung together. This was on a '71 with a 350.

Re: Serpentine setup 67-72
Only thing i don't like about that style. Is most of you are not really up on your maintenance. That system dose a fine job But when it brakes or shreds and you doing 60-70 in a 3 or 4 lane highway and your power steering goes out the Fan stops you have a short window. To get it toi the side of the road. The power steering is a ***** when it takes a dive Plus that new water pump. Its not like the 283-327 short water pump.I see lots of headaches.I keep the stock stuff works for me 2 belts.I know when i lose the fan belt i still got my steering

Yes it will. The previous owner put in a serpentine setup out of an 1980s model chevy in my 1967 suburban.

Re: Serpentine setup 67-72
I was successful in getting it installed last night. The power steering is a little close to the frame but it actually fits quite well really no issues.

Re: Serpentine setup 67-72
In trucks you can use both the truck 90s style serpentine system and also the 2 piece serpentine system off the front of V6 (chevy blazer, s-10, etc) motors.....just keep in mind you need to purchase or take the reverse water pump off the donor......all other devices turn the normal direction just the water pump turns in reverse.......also in turn if you are trying use this in a gm car the truck style system (horse shoe hoop design) wont work because it puts power steering into the driver side frame rail but the V6 version will work for a car install..........also before getting the 2 piece you have to make sure your heads have the holes to allow it to be bolted to it ......pictures in this link to older thread.......

Re: Serpentine setup 67-72
Here is what it looks like fits nicely. Still got my work cut out but I’m happy that went so well so far.
