swb,stepside to fleet,what's involved?
I found a stepside "going to look" and am wondering what it takes to swap to a fleetside?

I could be wrong as I'm still learning these trucks, but I believe it's just a bed swap. Pull step bed, sell it. Buy fleet and sit it on the frame, and bolt up.

Re: swb,stepside to fleet,what's involved?
Few options: if you want a wood bed the front wall and the rear brace under the floor are exclusive to the wood floor truck. If your going metal floor you can buy a repop but I think they are $1000 plus shipping. I recommend you look for a long bed with a good front wall, floor and tailgate. If it has a decent floor, cut it down using the bedsides as a template and weld back together.

Nothing.
Eight bolts and a light harness plug. Oh, and a few rod braces. |

Born a stepside.. It's pretty straight forward to swap over.

Re: swb,stepside to fleet,what's involved?
Leave it a stepside. They look more like a classic truck. But it's easy to switch over to fleet if that's what you really want. If you do switch it over, keep the bed because you will want to switch it back eventually.

Re: swb,stepside to fleet,what's involved?
Yes sir fleetside is by far more sexy. And bigger the bed the harder you can play

Re: swb,stepside to fleet,what's involved?
This is an old thread, but how about going from swb stepside to steel floor stepside? Has anyone done that and would it be easy to do? I'd like to use the steel floors with steel wheel tubs on my 69 stepper. Any ideas/tricks would be helpful.
Thanks in advance fellers!! Mando

Re: swb,stepside to fleet,what's involved?
I think until 1988 all step sides were wood beds. So you would have to fabricate a metal floor. Many different ways to do that.

Re: swb,stepside to fleet,what's involved?
Hmmmmm. I beg to differ. Stepsides have more curves.
