Does anyone out there know if Chrysler orange is closer to the color of my truck in the avatar then Chevy orange?
Chevy orange isnt the right orange, and I would really love to find dome rattle can that comes close to the color of my truck. My truck is Omaha orange.. Man I love this board!!! ![]()

If you got your paint done locally...or know the actual paint code, some body shops can whip up a spray bomb can of paint for you for a nominal fee.

I know for a fact some of the Earl Scheib shops can do this. They can do it with or without the hardner. If you do it with...then you have an hr or two to spray it...if you opt to not get the hardner...then it just takes for ever to dry.

Thanks for all the great advice! This is making my day. I didnt want to spray the engine black, when my whole engine compartment is black! I want some contrast and this will do that!! Thanks again!! ![]()

Dano, if my monitor is displaying it's colors correctly, I would guess that your truck is closer to a Chrysler orange. I think they used to call Chrysler orange "Competition Orange" and Chevy orange was called "Hugger Orange". I could be wrong, it's been many years since I have played with automotive paint. Chevy orange tends to have more red in it.
When I used to sell auto paint, we also sold these aerosol canisters that screwed onto small glass jars so you could use regular automotive paint like a spray can. I would think that most automotive paint stores still carry something similar. Best of luck, let us know what you find.........

Maybe some discoloration around the exhaust ports...but nothing too dramatic.

I went to one of the localpaint stores today to check on
the paint in a can. They quoted me $52 for a pint which will make 2 cans, and each additional can will be $8. Does this sound right?? That would be about $75 for 4 cans and then I can do some brackets and such also. What do you think?? Thanks!! Dan ![]()

If your not sure how close the colors are ... I would just buy a can and try it out. It sounds cheaper than the custom mix aproach. Try all the paint manufacturers, Krylon, Rustoleum etc. If you see one close just buy a can and try it out. Other options would be to paint it another neutral color like silver or somethiing similar.

I tried several different stores today, and no color is even close. I am really set on the motor color being the same as the body so I am kinda strapped to the color....

I put a PPG deltron base and clear on a motor, over 30K miles ago. around the manifolds turned a little yellower. But it holds up.
