'63 K10? Need some 60-66 4x4 experts in here
Ok, I picked up this truck yesterday. No title, it has a 64 5 6 cab, '63 grille, and a squarebody drivetrain. I figured it was a 60-66 body dropped on a squarebody k10 chassis, but after looking, it's definitely a factory '60-'62 maybe '63, so I bought it (I've been wanting a k10 frame for my '63c10 for a long time).
The main thing I'm using to date this frame is that the front engine crossmember has the mounting plate for a 235. It is still riveted in the frame, so it's got to be original. So here's the question. Did '63 k10's come with the 235? I know the 2wd trucks went to the 230/292, but somewhere in the recesses of my mind I think I remember reading something about the '63 k10s still having the 235. Also, I'd love to see a factory bellhousing crossmember. I crawled under there expecting to see it torched off, but it looks like there are brackets on each side with 4 holes that a crossmember would bolt to. I was assuming it would be just like the 2wd, so that took me off guard. It looks like the factory T221 crossmember is still bolted up as well. The front cab mounts are still there, but the rears were cut off and re positioned. I know I've read something about the differences in rear cab mounts between the 60-63 vs 64-66, so I'm guessing that's the reason that was done. As far as the rest of the truck drivetrain, someone put in a 350/350/208 with a later model dana 44 and a 14 bolt. Plans right now are to strip it down to the frame and springs, part out the drivetrain and body (the body is really rotted out), clean it up (there's a lot of crap welded on to the frame), and build it for my c10 body.

Original suspension pics
I was surprised to see overload springs on the rear. I didn't think a 1/2 ton would have them, but I guess I need to go read through the restoration packet again. Also, I'm guessing the rear block with the lateral piece jutting out to contact the bump stop is the original lift block for the rear, but I've not seen original spring plates for the front axle. Do those look like the original front axle top plates on the front spring?

frame should work out fine for you. the lift blocks are not stock. the rear one bottom is the org. Go to my build and you will have the pictures you want to look at. good luck and add more pics when taking apart.

There is some scary stuff on the front of that truck!
Steering box mount and blocks on the axle.

Yeah, it looks pretty bad, but in all honesty, I've cleaned up some pretty bad looking stuff before as well as driving it before taking it apart, and some of this really crappy looking work holds up really well for how it looks. I still don't advocate it, but I've still been pretty surprised by how sturdy some of these booger welds will hold
