My Ignition key tumbler broke or something steering wheel will un lock but something broke inside . Key Just twists,, wont bump starter and wont release column swifter or turn ignition on

Just got towed home and pulling the steering wheel not sure if its just the key lock cylinder or what broke

Any experience this broken problem

Not uncommon......lots of utube vids on it....

OK.... I pulled the steering wheel, Turn signal parts and then the key tumbler, but it appears something else is broken down inside the column

The auto column shifter wont unlock and key just turns loose like something broke down inside. The steering wheel unlocks so you can turn that though

I have a crappy Haynes manual that doesnt say much kinda worthless

(The rack appears to be coming all the way forward and the steering lock releases)( but auto column shifter stays locked and cant move out of park

Any Ideas or linkes

This is a 81 K20 silverado and a tilt column

I found this picture . I did not put that red arrow but seems maybe something around there broke?

P.S. Matter a fact shining a flashlight into the tilt part of my column, I can ses loose broke piece. I thing that part at the red arrow broke , a piece is broke off , maybe that loop part?

Can I get these parts anywhere?

I dont see these at rock auto

I found some on line that say made in china... Are there US made anywhere maybe standard products?

Classic Parts has a kit that includes that broken part. Other vendors likely have it also, that's just the first one I checked. Oh rats, I just saw it's out of stock but someone else might have it. I just finished putting back together. Local auto parts had a Dorman kit and I got the Lisle #19940 pivot pin puller at there also

I've used the Dorman kits a few times. They're definitely a life saver.
