Fuel line question
Does everyone use braided fuel lines for the look or are the pre bent steel lines unsafe to use?
Ive read where the hard lines are rated at 55psi and LS required 58-60 psi. I am just curious if I can reuse the lines I already have or do I need to remove them and use the braided lines and connectors from tank to rail. Thanks! |

I used braided simply because it's easier to run around stuff.....the factory uses plastic lines....

Not sure where you read that steel hard lines are only good to 55psi, but I can assure you that it isn't correct. Steel line is fine to use, but is generally harder to install which is why people use steel braided hose. I prefer steel myself.

I would use PTFE lines, especially if your truck is garaged. Will eliminate fuel order...

Ok thanks guys thats what I need to know!
I have another question: I have the standard 3 lines from the tank. Supply, return, and vent. Well somewhere down the line a previous owner removed the canister, plugged the vent line, and drill holes in the gas cap Im assuming to serve as the vent. My question in since this worked for the sec 305 I removed will it also work with the 4.8 I am installing in the truck? If so can I just delete the line at the tank and remove the line all together? Thanks! |

Just remove the plug from the vent line. I had mine like that in the engine bay and never smelled it. Or you can go to the bone yard and get an older simple cannister and hook it up. I have the holes in the cap on one of my swaps and I don't recommend it. It stinks when you open the window it comes in the cab.
