Yellow (520) or lt. yellow (525) paint code?
Done a lot of research, would appreciate your thoughts.
Getting ready to paint my 70 C10 and plan to stick with yellow. Seems my truck is a little darker than the 525 light yellow it is purported to be, or is it just me? First question: does the 550 SPID code translate to lt. yellow ( code 525) in 1970 or another yellow? Second question: Anyone dabbled in Daytona Yellow (2094) of the same year (as seen on Camaros and Corvettes) as a substitute for yellow on our trucks?

Is it possible that your truck was repainted in the last 48 years? I like the Daytona Yellow from 1970, but I'm not sure I would like it on a truck.

Re: Yellow (520) or lt. yellow (525) paint code?
In 1970, 550 was 520 Yellow Primary (not 525 Light Yellow) with a 521 White Secondary color roof - so it looks correct and original to me, just faded. 519 is Dark Yellow, although it's not labeled that way on the paint chip chart, it would have been on the SPID that way.
I'd stick with original combo on a repaint personally, looks good, and it's not something you see every day. Daytona Yellow would look nice also imho if you don't care about originality. Nice ol Mopar there in the background too. Last edited by jocko; 07-22-2018 at 01:00 AM. |

Intersting side note, I just sold that satellite to a guy in Sweden. Apparently Mopsrs are a hot commodity there.

Re: Yellow (520) or lt. yellow (525) paint code?
I believe it did, but not 100% certain. The 521 white/525 light yellow conventional two tone combo has normally been code 545. I also think 67-68s had a light yellow with cream/off-white top option as well. Not sure that code off the top of my head.
