Quadrajet fuel leak

Today was the day. Finally got all the parts to start the engine and break in the cam. Ran it for 20 + minutes at 2000+ rpms. Now my issue when i was adding some fuel to carb with a small bottle the fuel was coming out the base of the carb it looks to be coming out of the primary butterfly shaft is this normal on qjets.

Re: Quadrajet fuel leak

Yes,it happens when you pour gas in like that.
Open the throttle plate some before pouring it in.This lets it go on down before it can puddle on the the plate to run out around the shaft.
And,the more worn the shaft is the worse it will run out.
After it's running,check for leaks.
Mike.

Re: Quadrajet fuel leak

good point- worn shafts- thats a hint that you may experience vacuum leaks through those same worn shafts.
