Fan Temperature Switch
Can anyone recommend a fan temperature for a SBC 350 (screws into the intake manifold). What brand do you prefer and what on and off temp should i get?
Thanks. Wade

Re: Fan Temperature Switch
I just recently installed the Painless 30103.
https://www.painlessperformance.com/wc/30103 It's 185 on and 175 off. But I'm not sure how it's going to work out b/c I believe my stock thermostat in my 350 is a 195. So I might end up changing that out for maybe a 180?. I haven't started my truck yet so I'll see how it will perform. Also I don't have a heater in the truck yet either. I also have a painless wiring harness in my truck. Last edited by NeoJuice; 09-14-2018 at 12:23 PM. |

Re: Fan Temperature Switch
I went with a Temp switch/fan relay kit from Amazon, 200 on / 185 off and it works pretty good.
The sender comes with an adapter which screwed right into the Edelbrock Performer manifold temp port. It's fairly accurate according to the mechanical temp gauge I run. I run a 160 thermostat in the 350 and the setup keeps the temps at around 190 when cruising at 60 and below and 205 at extended idling and over 60. The fan hardly comes on unless I'm in bumper to bumper or interstate running. Since the kit was pretty inexpensive, around $20 IIRC, I also installed a toggle switch to run the fan incase the sender fails. For a few more $$$'s you can get an adjustable temp kit. Dave |

Re: Fan Temperature Switch
I have an unused one I'll let you have cheap - it's 175 on/165 off.

Re: Fan Temperature Switch
Thanks for the offer, but I think I will go with 200 on/185 off.
