Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
Had to put my buddy "Ace" to sleep today. He would have been 13 the 24th of this month. He has been dealing with some health issues for a year now, however, he was still full of life and thanks to the meds, he was not in any pain. But he took a turn for the worst this weekend and started to suffer and I could not let that happen. it was a tough decision, but he is comfortable and happy now and waiting till we see each other again some day. I miss him terribly and driving my trucks is not the same with out him in the back. Don't mean to be a downer, just wanted to memorialize my best buddy. Thanks for listening.

I'm sorry for your loss. A pet is just not a pet, they are a part of the family.

I agree to them being family. I feel for you. Its too bad they can't live as long as we do. It's hard but you probably made the right decision. I have had to make that decision twice and those were two of the hardest days I've had to face.

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
My sis and bil just had to put their 3 yr old Shep down. He had a problem in his tail bone area from birth the dr said. It got so bad he screamed when having a bm. He was spoiled and had extreme separation anxiety. His is the toughest pet loss they have had. I've lost a few myself. I feel for you.

You did the most humane and loving thing that you could have done for him...it's selfish of us when we prolong the inevitable for our own sake.
I have gone thru this many times in my life......... and it never gets any easier. My deepest condolences on the loss of your most loyal friend. "An old man misses many dogs"

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
I'm sorry to hear Ace had to be put to sleep. I have lost three dogs in my adult life and fortunately have yet to need to do this. So I can only imagine what it must be like. My last old buddy was fading out, couldn't do much but want to be with me. I had decided it was time to see what a vet had to say about his quality of life. Basically, I wondered if putting him down was appropriate... yet. Well, I woke up the next morning and he had passed in his sleep at my feet

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
Sorry to hear this, I can completely sympathize with you though. I had to put my old gril down yesterday also, I had her almost 12 yrs, not sure how old she was as she was a rescue dog. Like yours her health was declining, but in the last few days it had gotten worse, then this weekend it was obvious she was in severe distress. thank goodness for Vet's who are not only willing to give up their Sunday, but also come to the house, so i didn't have to try and move her, with her in such obvious distress. My heart is a bit broken today, but I am thankful for all the good years we had together.

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
Your Buddy was a beautiful dog. Went through the same thing two years ago. Put down my German shepherd female and her daughter the same year. The older one due to age/health (she was 16) and her daughter developed an aggressive tumor at age 7. Both are missed.

I’m sad for you. Dogs are not pets, they’re loyal companions.
He decided that it was time to go, to make room for another. My Nellie’s going to be 17, and I cringe when I think about not having her at my feet, or watching me in the garage, while I work |

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
Some of the worst days in life are losing a loved pet like that. We get so used to them being around and it is so hard when they pass. I feel your pain and have been thru it too.
