What do you do for mice problems.

Last year I put down Bounce fabric softener sheets, & Irish Spring soap.
They pooped on the sheets & ate the soap.
We lost our mouser this summer after 18 years. But frankly for the last 7-8 years he had been sleeping on the job.
What do you use to deter mice?

I use the sticky pads they stick too. I got a pack from pest control operator. You stick bait on the pad and they stick around for dinner! Don't use poison. Your cat might decide to do some work on the wrong day!

The first thing you have to do is to figure out how they are getting inside your truck.
That would be job 1...

I wish I knew. I don't have any in my truck (thank goodness) but our pear tree is loaded with fruit.... and mice. We managed to trap four, and our dogs killed two more. Starting to run low on pears, and haven't seen any mice lately. Good luck with yours, and I agree with Coley... figure out how they're getting in.

wow, you've got aliens instead of mice. Traps are some of the best items you can use, but it doesn't keep them out, but with a little peanut butter, you'll attract to them it. and if you can locate any possible openings as small as a dime, mice can come thru this, so stuff steel wool in and around any and all possible cracks, etc. good luck with that one.

ol' Catillac.... really prefers catching moles. He doesn't kill 'em, just brings them in the house & turns them loose.

You need to use a varity of thing to keep mice out , Moth balls and fresh coffee in a open container ,this combo works very well to keep them out ,

Rodent poison the block type works well to if you need to kill them ,but you should use only if no children or pets or present .the trick to using poisen is set up a 5 gal pail of water half full because after they eat the poisen they seek water to drink and wont be able to escape and will drown in the pail ,this way you want have dead mice that will decay and stink up your truck because you did not know they died from the poisen. My uncle had a exterminating company and taught me this ,been using these methods for years.

Last year I got so mad that I started the trucks and let them run for 3 hrs.

Bad idea! Mice all crawled behind the gas tanks to died. Was a terrible stench come spring.

Look at the bottom of the page! From my Senior Garden Class. Haven't had an issue with the little pests. But the teachers remedies are usually spot on.

FAMOUS RECIPES:
Ant: Mix 1 teaspoon boric acid powder and 1/3 cup sugar in 2 cups water. Place a
piece of sponge in a small jar. Fill with liquid bait. Refill once aweek. Store excess . ^
bait in the refrigerator. Change when mold forrns on sponge. Start baiting in April
Deer: Liquid Fence (available at Hydroscape) OR mix 3 eggs in a gallon of warm
water and spray on plants. OR hang bars of fels naptha or lifebuoy soap about every
10 feet around the property line.
Rabbits: Liquid Fence OR soak beef liver in hot hot water for a couple of hours.
Discard liver. Spray diluted liver water around the garden. Redo after rain.
Slugs: Sluggo. Or spray with full strength vinegar or ammonia. Place a juicy
cantaloupe or grapefruit rind in the garden overnight. In the morning when it is full of
slugs, bag and toss it. Never use metaldehyde.
Snails: Decollate snails. Reduce overwatering. Copper strips. Wood ashes or
crushed eggshells sprinkled around the plants.
Roach Bait:4 Tablespoons boric acid,2 Tablespoons flour, 1 Tablespoon Cocoa OR
1 Tablespoon boric acid powder and 1/2 cup sugar. Mix and place in jar lids behind the
range, refrigerator, under sink, where pets can't find them. Also sprinkle boraxo soap
in the bottom of trash barrels.
Mice: 2 Tablespoons cornstarch, 1 Tablespoon powdered sugar, I Tablespoon plaster

I have used this method with peanut butter on the bottle for bait.It worked good and got them all

If you are storing in a garage,use steel wool in any crack or gap,they will not eat thru that, soap does not work, little burgers will eat it when they really get hungry

Wow, I wish I knew that truck about using the half full of water 5 gallon bucket when I was trying to get rats out of a warehouse space I was renting. I poisoned the crap out of that place and those fat little rats were totally stinking up the place.

Just this week I finally got a bunch of pecans out of the bracing on the underside of my hood. They also got some in my tailgate, but I haven't tried to get them out yet. It was my mistake putting a box of pecans in the same warehouse my truck was in.

Mine had a mice problem since it sat in a barn for many years before I could get around to restoring it. Once it was restored, after driving it around a bit, I noticed some leaves and debris poking out of the holes on the front under side of the hood. They had built a nest up inside the hood. With an air compressor and some patients, I ended up clearing out a bunch of leaves, small branches and pieces of plastic bags etc. Haven't had a problem since restoration other than cleaning out what they had done in the past.

Those traps you have with the yellow plastic work well. The trick is:
Get you some cotton and dental floss. Tie the cotton to the yellow plastic then coat with some peanut butter. We have some peanut butter that is about four years old and has liquid built up in the bottom. I soak up that cotton with the greasy liquid peanut butter. They will try to pull that cotton off as opposed to just licking it. I've caught over a dozen mice on one trap that I've only baited once. I just drop off the dead mouse in the trash and immediately reset it as is. Set it outside within 50' perimeter of your truck not inside it.

I know it sounds crazy (and no I didn’t bump my head), but flakes of Irish Spring soap, in a mesh bag under each side of the seat, and even one in the glovebox. The rodents hate the smell, and as a bonus, so do the insects.
I put the soap at the corners of my small Cabin, and no longer have and issue with the critters.
Another bonus is they double as an air freshener

A 5 gallon bucket with a little anti freeze in the bottom works if you dont have pets . I do this inside my shop in winter time and I have no pets .

Adopt a feral fixed cat, keep it inside for a few weeks, turn it loose. It will stay at your house if you keep feeding it. I have 2 feral so outside and I do not have a mouse r mole problem. Yes, they do get birds once in awhile, but starlings and English sparrows are abundant!

Or, get a couple of feral kittens and let them loose in a couple of weeks. The only reason I suggest feral is that all that go to the pound get euthanized.
