72 C20 survivor
Looked at a low mile C20 a couple weeks ago and just wanted to share this.
It is a 72 C20 truck sold new in Sweden. The story tells it was bought by a newspaper delivery company but it was never put into regular use, it served as a spare truck. These trucks were commonly used as newspaper trucks at that time here in Sweden. It has been in the same family since 1985 and by that time it had about 8000 kilometers (4970 miles) on it. The truck has just 28447 kilometers (17676 miles)on the odometer today. The original split rims are still available with the truck. Looks like it still got the original exhaust system, spare tire never used, maybe never ever taken down.

Re: 72 C20 survivor
That is a a great find....in Sweden, Canada...the U.S wherever.
I would definitely get on that. Here is a question for you tho'...what is the classic (American) car or truck market like in Sweden? I know it exists but it is a fringe group or quite popular or?....does this play into the value of the classic cars and trucks being elevated? Is it for sale?...what is something like that worth there?....any idea what it would take to ship it to the U.K? all good Coley

Re: 72 C20 survivor
Coley,
The market for American cars and trucks are quite big. It seems like the interest for the classics are increasing among all kinds of people, young and old. Prices are following the same trend, at least for some cars and trucks. This particular one is for sale for SEK 155,000 which is about $17,000 or Ģ13,000. See the link to the ad for this truck. https://www.blocket.se/stockholm/Che...27556.htm?sa=1 www.blocket.se is a good place to find all kinds of cars and trucks, it is similar to craigslist I guess. Unfortunately, there is no version in English as far as I know. I donīt really know what it would take to ship a car or truck from Sweden to the UK but since the UK still are a part of the EU it is much easier and cheaper. The UK will leave the EU in March 2019 and after that, I guess there will be import taxes to pay when importing from an EU country. For example, import taxes and other fees for a car or truck from the US to Sweden are about 34% on top of the total price for the vehicle when it comes to the Swedish border. That means the taxes and fees are calculated on the total price for the vehicle and the shipping cost. In some cases, a classic can be imported with only 12% tax.

Re: 72 C20 survivor
The asking price of 17K doesn't seem to make it worth the hassle and cost of shipping. At least back to the US where you can find fine examples for 17K and less all day long. Now if it were 2K that would be different.

I sold a 1956 and 57 Chevy truck that went there and a ton of 64 and 65 Olds Cutlass F85 parts. These guys were buying a lot of classic on eBay a while back. |

Re: 72 C20 survivor
17K for that truck is too much even here in my opinion.

Re: 72 C20 survivor
What an exceptional find? WOW! What an exceptional price? Shoowee! Did you import your Cheyenne you've had of the same color two tone with white? I ask because I'm surprised this truck that was purchased for paper delivery would be a Cheyenne and wonder if it's possible only Cheyennes came over to Sweden when new. Coincidence? Just curious... as always.
I just got back from Fall Carlisle and will say I spoke to quite a few Swedish gentleman and often do. One question I always ask them, "Where da women at?"

It is indeed a unique truck at least to be over here. Yes, I did import the 71 Super Cheyenne I have, and I still have it. It was two-tone copper and white when I bought it but repainted it in another original color combination, grapefruit yellow and white. The official GM agent/importer (GM Nordiska AB) specified the trucks that came here and was sold new by GM. As far as I know and have heard they were all specified the same. For example, all 71īs had a 307 V8 while all 72īs got a 350 V8. Both 71 and 72īs were Cheyennes, all had bucket seats, most 71īs were red while most 72īs were yellow. So you could not walk into a dealer and specify the truck yourself, you just had to go with whatever the dealer had in stock. Here is another thread I posted a while back with the Swedish 71 truck sales brochure. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=232821 Ok, so you talked to some Swedes at Carlisle. I love to go there again sometime, I was there once but that was about 12-15 years ago. The women need to stay at home if you bring them the trip will be half the fun but twice as expensive
