Door jam smoothing ideas
I'm looking to smooth out the buckled metal and spot welds along the door jams, as shown in the photos. My first thought is to fill the area with Metal 2 Metal, but am also considering just filing in the spot welds. Would like to see pics or hear ideas on how you guys did this with your truck.

Re: Door jam smoothing ideas
I finish the doors and door jambs .....Its just what I like to do....I'm not a profesional at this but I like the details... Jambs, under hoods and especially firewalls....Its something you can do if patient. small home made sanding blocks and filler and 2K fill prime.....You see many beautiful paint jobs at car shows and many of them stop at the jambs....

Re: Door jam smoothing ideas
That looks good. Thanks for posting. I was wondering if it was ok to use body filler in the seams from the rocker panel to the door jam, or if that seam should be filled with seam sealer to allow that area to flex.
Do you also fill the area I've highlighted in red? |

Re: Door jam smoothing ideas
Yes, I filled areas like those.....in some cases I have used "stranded" fiberglass if the area was deep, then applied filler over that......It's not much filler in reality.....I have had no cracking or failure.....Make sure you use high quality filler, not the $20 a gallon stuff...It's harder to sand. I used "Rage" gold and evercoat finishing putty
