Transmission mount cross member help
Good evening all. Shown in the pictures is the ece trans mount. I have read multiple accounts where people have had the same setup as I do, lq4 w/ 4l80 and the holes line up. Seems like my trans is sitting back further than most.
Does anyone see issues with what I've got going on? Engine mounts etc. Thanks! |

Re: Transmission mount cross member help
Looks like you can slide your engine way back if you want to.

Re: Transmission mount cross member help
I can slide it back but then it's even worse off. It needs to go forward about an inch and a half to line up with the last set of holes. If I were to push it backward, one hole would line up and then I'd have to drill a couple new holes. Not a big deal but since ive seen this done without having to drill new holes, i'm worried there's something I'm overlooking.

Re: Transmission mount cross member help
Be allot easier to tell engine position if the cab cab was on..I'm assuming there's no movement left in the engine mounts to go forward...

Re: Transmission mount cross member help
unfortunately I sent the cab off to have replacement panels done. I have no welding experience, equipment or space. Yeah, the engine is maxed out forward.

Re: Transmission mount cross member help
I used the same trans mount but used the ECE motor mounts and it fit great but 1 hole. It was off about 3/8" so I just drilled the frame basically putting a slot and bolted it right in.
The best thing is to make sure your not going to hit the firewall or are to far away from the firewall. Best to have the motor positioned correctly in relation to the firewall and just drill the frame to bolt everything in. Hope this helps! Oh and my swap was a 6L80 trans
