Flush Fitting a Filler Cap
I may have asked this before.
Id like to fit an aero style fuel filler like the one in the link below but I want to fit it so its smooth with the surface of the fender rather than sitting on top. Has anyone done this before? How did you flush it in? https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p...lockable-cap3s |

Re: Flush Fitting a Filler Cap
I haven't done my fuel filler yet, but that is one I have been looking at. The only way I can figure out how to flush it is to build a small metal piece to be able to screw the filler into and have it welded in recessed behind the fender so the opening is perfect size for the filler and just enough recess to flush the front. Of course the contour of the fender has to be right also. Not sure I have the skills to do it, but someone does!

Re: Flush Fitting a Filler Cap
Other possibility, would be to make a hole the size of the fill pipe...Use a flanging tool to recess the outer circle that bolts down....I Have not done this, don't know how well and how smooth a flanging tool would be on round circle. Definitely need a practice piece, 1st.
