Williams Header install

I am fitting my Williams headers up along with the Offenhouser manifold. I understand the hold down clamps have to be modified to get equal pull on both manifold and header. I did not disassemble so not sure about the order of the clamps. Looks like the two small ones are on the outside while the four bigger ones run in the middle four holes?

Just want to verify before I start grinding on stuff

The intake manifold is narrower at the bolting flange than the exhaust

I ended up adding 3/16ths to one side of each hold down clamp the ground to fit. Took a while but turned out OK I think

Hey Jemez, small world - I'm tacking this same job today on my '59 Fleetside, engine is the original 235 cu.in. I have everything apart, stuff painted that I wanted to freshen up while things are accessible, getting close to ready to assemble. In my case, I want to go with the stock intake manifold and the Williams split exhaust manifolds.

Doing some test fitting I can tell the stock throttle linkage will foul against the rear exh. manifold section, specifically the arm that runs vertical to the carb. Any suggestions from folks on ideas to remedy this? I'm thinking I'll have to bend a new arm. It's 1/4"Ø rod so I guess I'll go to a hardware store or the like and buy a length of steel rod and do it trial and error. I'm thinking I'll bolt up both sets of manifolds, get the carb. in position, then start eye balling things. It doesn't look like the original linkage can be re-bent to work to me. This is my 1st time diving into this sort of job so if anyone has any tips I'd appreciate it, TIA.

Janky,

My 50 with the after market intake and two Carter Weber’s is going to be a job to figure out a good working throttle linkage. Probably trail and error with a bunch of quarter inch stuff till i figure it out. Going to have to modify the drivers side firewall support rod too as it runs in to the back carb right at the base
