Aftermarket stereo deck
Does anyone know if any of the modern stock appearing stereo decks have a bezel that if the cut out that make it look correct with the two knob holes? Some how I’m sad to say that I missed that it was cut out before it got painted and going back and welding new patch in is an option but my last option if I can make it look correct, any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. Also sorry about the upside down pictures I tried a few times but I can’t get them right side up from my phone

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
Look at post #291 on my WMB thread below for what I did to get around a hacked dash.

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
HO455 that looks really nice and clean, that is a very good option. I’m just really pissed at myself to have done a frame off resto and have over looked the dash with how much detail went into the rest of the truck. It’s embarrasing

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
I just saw this weekend on a episode of Trucks (on motor trend tv channel), that someone makes a retro stereo system that has the knobs and a plate that makes it look like the factory setup. They put it in a 72 C10.

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
Thank you. We all miss something doing these projects. I missed the fact that the top of my tailgate was pushed out of shape and won't seal with the hatch. Even more frustrating is the fact I straightened the vertical piece and didn't see the rest of the damage.

Another option for you. I think Brothers sells this aluminum adapter plate. I painted mine to match and Im happy with it.

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
Have you considered installing a blanking plate and going with a Bluetooth and hidden setup under the seat. Clean and simple and modern.

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
There are some great options here...and I like the one by H0455....doesn't look cut or compensating at all.
What I would consider is doing up a plate like this but having it sprayed in the blue color you have.....or do up 2 identical plates, one in a nice black (Ref. HO455) and one in your blue color...and compare and see which one you like? There are pretty small parts and easy to put a high quality paint on for appearance sake....and waaayyy easier than rewelding your dash. A lot of this will be tied to what radio or stereo you will be using. All good Coley

Thanks. I just hate it when I look cut or compensating.

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
I know some might cringe when I say I used a radio delete plate to cover the cutout hole and dimples in my dash. But it had been drilled for toggle switches by someone else first.

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
I made this for mine on a friend's cnc plasma cutter. All ya need is a template from a good dash. It's made out of stainless steel.

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
It's your truck and you know what you want. But I'm not sure why you are this concerned with original look when you are using that instrument cluster. If I went that route I'd be buying a modern stereo that fits, with my focus on best sound quality. It's all cut and ready for it.
People walk away from doors with speaker holes cut. Yet good rust free doors are some of the hardest to find parts and they are always asking for a good place to put speakers. I have bought rust free doors from CA that cost less than shipping price because they had 6x9 cut outs. I figure I'll put some killer 6x9s in and enjoy the unobstructed sound. I wish someone had cut my dash

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
lol....I shouldn't have put the term 'at all' on the ending of my earlier comment...that always infers to people sometimes the opposite.
Its a good looking resolution to a cut dash for sure...one that I would do. All good Coley

Re: Aftermarket stereo deck
The Retro Sounds radio comes with a front bezel plate. However, it is plastic and I wouldn’t expect it to hold up the weight of the radio in your cut out without a backing plate being added.
