67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
The prices are about the same so that's not a factor . Who has already installed either of these and what if any issues did you have ?
67 short bed ,small block, new Moog 1967 style ball joints ,1 coil cut stock springs, stock A arms . Wheel and tire size not a factor at this point . it's too cold to paint so I need to order these . The CCP say they do not widen the track width , Western doesn't mention any track width changes https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-70-Che....c100005.m1851 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-70-CHE...S/282394125161

I’ve used Western drop spindles with no issues. They are on my 72.

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
I used Western Chassis, had to grind a bit off the nub for the tie rod,I am running 8" rallys, the major issue I had with Western was I bought them of there site on E bay, paid in full, they said they will ship out in 2 weeks, finally took 2 months before I got them.My friend runs a shop and uses only ECE spindles.

I used ece spindles, springs, and disc brake kit on my 70. Everything went together great.

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
I called and spoke to Mark at ECE and asked about their drop spindles for the 67 and he told me they increase the track width 1.5 " total . With the 67 already having a narrower posi rear axle increasing the front track width isn't something I'm interested in doing .

I used mcgoughys. look neat, haven't rolled on them yet. used 6 lug rotors and blazer 6.5'' steelies and cleared with no issues. didn't really notice a trac width on these either.

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
I used pol stuff simply because I figured it almost all comes from China anyway? Even the more reputable resellers find a “good” Chinese product and resell that?
As for pol, customer service is definitely lacking. They don’t offer advice or installation tips and the directions are basically worthless. I did the entire frame with pol stuff and it seems ok or basically typical. I didn’t see any glaring issues and it all seem to fit first try except for the engine perches. Need to drill hole in the crossmember. A weird thing I noticed with the inner tie rod ends is they have a grease zerk. The originals are sealed. In order the grease the pol inners you’d have to disassemble the tie rods. They are literally 1/4” clearance from the engine cross member. The drop spindles contact the upper control arms when fully aired up - so some grinding will need done there. Shipping took FOREVER and it came it different shipments. Pol seemed to be the most economical. Overall the products are new but typical. Not that any of this addresses any of your questions but since everyone was offering experience with different vendors, I figured I’d add. I haven’t been able to add much to the forum so far as I’m still fairly new to this |

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
I used CPP on my '67. But the ones I got have a different part number (CP4S3) than what you are looking at. Make sure what you order really uses '67 ball joints, CPP make them for '67 and '71 ball joints. I got mine from Summit and ordered the wrong ones, but Summit replaced them. I called Moog tech support about the difference and this is what they told me. "The difference in the 67 and 71 is the small end of the taper on a 67 upper (6024) is .588 and the 71 (6124) is .551. The big ends are the same .702."

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
I used CPP spindles on my 68 when I converted to disc brakes. I remember the part number in the casting not matching what I ordered. I figured they have one casting number(which coincidentally matched a different application) and then they just machine the tapered holes to match the year they are selling them for.

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
I finally got around to ordering drop spindles , I looked at Summit and their price for CPP -CP4S2 2.5" drop (for 67) Summits price was $278.99 and they had them in stock
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...del/c10-pickup CPP ebay price was $215.00 shipped between 3/8 and 3/21 ? So I called Summit and they priced matched at $215.00 and shipped them free today .

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
Grumpy-
Congrats on the order. I noticed in your original post you said "Wheel and tire size doesn't matter at this point." Is it true that a 15X8" (Blazer steelie) will hit the bottom of the bottom A-arm and need some trimming with these spindles? Looking at the same thing right now for my '70....

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
I stopped down at Scotts hot rods this morning to get their opinion of which spindles to order They said their all about the same order the CPP's So I asked about having to trim the lower A arm and his response was "don't run 15" wheels " From what I understand they won't hit if you run 3 1/2" back space ?
http://www.scottshotrods.com/events/ "Wheel and tire size doesn't matter at this point." I'll buy wheels and tires to fit the drop , Not try to drop to fit the wheels and tires

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
Ordered from Summit on Monday and arrived on Wednesday , That's some fast free shipping . BUT , The spindle casting part # doesn't match the actual part # for a 67 lower ball joint , I understand they use the same casting for multiple years and the lower ball joint size are drilled different . It's No big deal to me , The parts fit but somewhere down the road years from now someone is going to have a big PITA when they order new ball joints using the spindles part # and they don't fit .
Look at the label it says they work with 1.25 TICK rotors ?

So do you think these will work for a square body with a different lower ball joint as well? |

"Don't run 15" wheels" isn't an option for an old school build.

Re: 67 C10 short bed - 2.5 drop spindles CCP vs Western chassis
[QUOTE=Leonard1;8481744]Obviously a typo, the reason for the note is that some of the square body trucks came with a 1" thick rotor, and the spindles are different.
Yeah , I just thought it was a funny typo , "Don't run 15" wheels" isn't an option for an old school build. Yeah , Maybe the guy I talked to was just too busy on Monday morning ? Or maybe he didn't want to waste time with some old guy in work clothes asking questions about a stock frame static drop 67 ?
