Wiring Ignition
Gentleman. I am very close to turning the key for the first time on my LS. My goal is to fire her on my 50th birthday next month. I found my original ignition and key in a box and would like to use it to start the motor. Keep in mind I have the cab sitting on the frame, but basically we have a rolling chassis without any wiring in the cab. How would I go about wiring up the ignition to work? I know i need to go to the starter, but what else and if you have a diagram of the pins I would really appreciate it.

Re: Wiring Ignition
All you'll need from the switch to the LS ecm is switch on power...other than that the switch works just like it would on any engine...

Re: Wiring Ignition
Well that sounds simple enough, but I took this thing apart so long ago that I don't remember what wire went to where on the ignition. I can a lot of mechanical work, but wiring just throws me.

Re: Wiring Ignition
I guess to clarify:
Purple wire = Starter Terminal Red Wire = To Battery Brown Wire = Acc Wire (do I need to hook this to anything now?) Brown/White Wire = Alternator Reg (I assume I don't need) Pink Wire = Ignition Coil (can I use this one for the ECM?) Tan Wire = Brake Warning to Dash (don't need now) Green Wire = Temp Sender to Dash (don't need now) Dashed Purple Wire = Neutral Start Switch (don't need now) Is this correct? Thank you in advance.

Re: Wiring Ignition
This is how mine is wired anyways:
Purple wire = Starter Terminal (Needed to Start) Red Wire = To Battery (Needed to Feed Power to Switch) Pink Wire = Ignition Coil (Yes, Goes to Pink/Black on my Harness to Power ECU) Brown Wire = Acc Wire (Not Needed Now) Brown/White Wire = Alternator Reg (Not Needed Now)

Re: Wiring Ignition
Stepside I just ran across this thread again. I am starting to plan out my power protection plan and bulkhead/PCM harness wiring. Did you wire your alt to the starter? What did you do if I may ask? I'm trying to figure out what size circuit breakers to use and where.
This is something similar to what I am thinking.
