Pictures needed
I've searched all the wiper threads but still need a good quality picture of a factory wiper motor mounted in a 59 apache. I bought my truck with no wiper motor. Just purchased a motor from LMC but don't know how its mounted. Arms are in place. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Pictures needed
Thank you both. Just what I was looking for. Reason I couldn't figure out where motor went is bracket it bolts to is not there. Former owner installed a BelAir dash in the truck and apparently removed the bracket. Guess I have some fabricating to do. Thanks again. Tim

Re: Pictures needed
there is also a different bracket for the different motors available. some were vacuum and some electric. if fabbing a bracket I don't suppose it matters though. I think the bump in the firewall area is a bit different for the two as well. I had one of each but they were Canadian models so possibly different anyway.

Re: Pictures needed
I installed a new electric wiper motor and if I remember right, I had to use the bracket from the old vacuum unit.

Re: Pictures needed
if you gotta fab a bracket why not use a motor assembly from something really common, like a newer style chevy truck? it's only wiring and a bracket that you gotta fab anyway.

Re: Pictures needed
58 59 Original Electrip wiper motors attached to a curved bracket in the center part of the dash. It mounted a little bit under the dash and had attached threads so you could just screw the bolts (2) of the original wiper motor bracket into it.
There was also a small threaded bracket on the firewall that also took a bolt from the back bracket of the original wiper motor. You could either fab something or find someone parting a 58 59 to get the bracket you need. Good luck |
