Heater core
Started the heater core removal today, Not too bad.
Only one stripped inner fender well bolt. Definitely will need new ducting and seals, already purchased. The vacuum cleaner got a good workout, lots of leafy debris. [IMG][/IMG]

Re: Heater core
Found a couple more issues while removing the heater core, right front radiator core support bushing not attached, and a ground strap hanging loose.

Re: Heater core
Good pics on the work! Your lucky on the leaves. I had about a football sized wad or rats nest, urine and crap in my inner & outer heater boxes...glad my original heater core was leaking and installed upside down. What a damned mess! So easy to pull that inner fender and get the heater box out.

Re: Heater core
I was able to do the heater core in my 70 with AC without removing the box from under the hood. Might had been a nut or bolt under the hood I needed to get to, but I did most of the work under the dash.

Re: Heater core
Wow, more bad news than I expected. Good thing of course is its all very fixable, with minimal expense on parts.
You will be happy when its done. Where did you get your heater core? |

Re: Heater core
After searching for heater cores for an AC '68, I have found several places that have them in stock.

Re: Heater core
Did you stick with the copper? I looked briefly and came across brothers. Of course still not in stock. I almost canceled the order yesterday but wife convinced me to wait. It's not cold yet.

Re: Heater core
I'm having my original core repaired, it failed at the solder joint by the input tube.
