62 C10 Upper Control Arm Bushing install question

I have new upper control arm bushing I'm trying to install. I started them into the control arm and get about 4 turns on each side before the outer threads engage the control arm. I continued to turn the bushings about 1/2 turn each until the both engaged the control arm threads. They each turn about 1-1/2 more turns and then they get extremely tight. There are still threads showing between the bushing and control arm so they both need to turn a few more turns. I need a long handled breaker to turn them any further so have not "forced" them on any further. The shaft is also extremely tight. Should the bushings be this tight? The bushings thread easily onto the cross shafts and also into the control arms (takes a bit more force, but they thread all the way in. It is just when I put them together that they get very tight. Any help is greatly appreciated.
