Re: hood latch

Do you need the panel that the latch sets in like this? https://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb...5Z5Z50000014x#

Or the actual latch?

Re: hood latch

Classic parts (and probably every truck trinket vendor) also show that part https://www.classicparts.com/1955-57...ctinfo/38-733/

They also show the hood latch assembly https://www.classicparts.com/1955-57...ctinfo/38-603/

Re: hood latch

I found those parts that that were in your links, however I need the part that is attached to the hood not the part attached to the core support

I don't know of anyone who sells that piece separate.

That's probably why it has no name.

Do reproduction hoods include that part? If so, someone must be making them.

I sell parts. Are you talking about the small piece that is approx 5" X 3"?

Tell me what it is worth. I can't justify removing one from a hood for $5.

Re: hood latch

I'm following this thread because I need one, also. It is the piece that goes here, that the latch mates to.

This one is for a car, not truck. However, I could probably use it and modify to use for the truck. Since they look like they use the same latch.

So, do you sell them? Or you have to remove one from a brand new hood?

Okay. But they do not look the same.
1955-57 hoods are not made the same as 58 & 59 hoods on task force trucks.

If you prefer to make it; that is fine. I come from that school myself.

And the latch plate for the 58 & 59 look exactly like this.

I need that whole support bracket plus the latch plate for a 1955 2nd truck, not interested in making one or adapting one from a car or a 58-59 truck.

I have the whole thing. The one i showed a pic of is on the entire support.
Honestly, i don't know right off what it is worth. I have not sold hoods without them before.

What do you think is fair?

Re: hood latch

Well honestly the simple thing would be to hunt down a 55/57 hood that was somewhat junk but Had those piece in good shape. That is exactly what Ironworker is going to have to do if he sells you one and sends it to you. Go out, find a donor with an otherwise bad hood buy it or buy the pieces and then figure out what he needs to charge you to pay for his investment in time and money so he can at least make wages for going after it.

From my research it is called a "hood latch striker plate" or "hood latch retainer plate".
