Rubber floor mat install
I purchased a new rubber floor lining a for my 71 4x4. Is it recommended to glue this down? If so what adhesive should I use?

Re: Rubber floor mat install
Ive installed three of these. Never glued one down. The shifter rings and sills will help it from shifting. The fact its molded also helps it stay put.

Re: Rubber floor mat install
That's what I was hoping to do, however when I lay mine in there it has a poor fit. Where did you get yours?

Re: Rubber floor mat install
It helps to lay it in the sun for awhile to warm up before installing. Did you get the right size mat? 4x4 takes a large hump. I have installed at least two mats in my K20 and they fit very well.

Yes, High hump mat warmed in the sun, it doesn't appear to be wide enough.

Re: Rubber floor mat install
I've never seen one glued from the factory. Have you contacted the vendor?

Re: Rubber floor mat install
Yup, no glue. Bought my last one from Wes at http://www.classicheartbeat.com/ and the size was perfect.
Not terribly happy with the longevity though, 3 mats have worn out far more quickly than the OEM mat did.

Re: Rubber floor mat install
Do you install under carpet padding beneath the rubber flooring? or rubber right over the metal floor?

Re: Rubber floor mat install
Wife got me one for Christmas. But i think its the wrong hump. Seems to have about an 1 1/2 inch gap on both sides. Im going to return it and see if they have one for a higher hump.

Re: Rubber floor mat install
Well, there really isn't too much room under the original style rubber mat, I used one layer of DynaMat under the rubber mat and it fit perfectly.
