47-55.1 cable drive fuel pump.

I have been trying to figure out my 5 stage dry sump oil pump plumbing for my 292. My oil pan should be done in 2 to 3 weeks. On the back of the pump there is a hex drive for a cable drive fuel pump. Is this something I want/need? I'm running 3 Roch 2 BBL carbs and 4-71 blower. I don't really have room for a mech pump because my headers are on that side. I like the idea that it shuts off with the engine. Plus it looks cool so "chicks will dig it". As usual I'm wandering in the dark. Thanks for any input.

so many electric fuel pump options out there at 20-50% of the cost... not sure of the why.

My oil pump has the drive for it on it. I like the idea that it shuts off with the engine.

Electric pump will shut off with the engine if you wire it with an oil pressure switch that cuts off when the oil pressure drops. You have to have a bypass switch to start it and build oil pressure but they are pretty common on race motors.

Your dime and your Bubba points as far as the cable drive fuel pump goes. You have never once asked about the cheap way out on anything going first boat on all of it so the price difference isn't a consideration I'd think. What I don't like to see is the exact opposite where a guy states or implies that the budget is tight and is looking for economical options and guys throw out their high dollar dream items.

Do what you want to with it and I'll put it on my bucket list to some day drive my 48 with the 292 that is a whole lot milder to where you are racing that unit just to sit, watch and marvel.

Thank you. I know I get a little crazy with stuff. I'm not a rich man but I have waited close to 40 years to build my "dream truck". I started a truck fund about 25 years ago putting in a few bucks here and there. I have put off my retirement for 2 years now and almost all my income goes into the truck. I have so many memories in that truck over the last 40 years. I plan on driving the wheels off it.

Cool, that is what it is all about. A guy I know is always trying to give me a hard time about how much I spend on my truck and other projects but he is well known for dropping several hundred a night at the local Casino that is two miles from my house. The place has been open for 21 years and I think I have actually played the machines twice in that time spending a total of 20 bucks. Jean and I got on penny slots back in a quiet corner on those times and had a bit of fun after eating at the buffet.
