Is there an auto transmission that will bolt to a 1952 216? Thinking of going that direction. If not, what would be a good six swap that would take an auto?

I don't think there is an auto that will bolt up. A good 6 swap would be a 250 from the late 60's and up. There is also a 230 and a 292. These have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the V8's.

you want old school carb etc or electronic fuel injection? if the latter then there are other items to look at as well, fuel tank etc.

There are kits to bolt an aluminum powerglide or a turbo 350 to the 235 and 261 engines. The implication is that it won't fit the 216 or early 235 though.

The trans swap is going to require that you have a 12 volt system for the starter as he doesn't offer a 6 volt for it. It's probably best to get the starter he sells for it rather than dinking around trying to find one that fits and works right too. It most likely is a production starter that you can pick up at O'Reilly's but unless he gives you the exact application it is one of those by guess and by golly things.

An overdrive automatic would probably be too big of a can of worms to deal with with the 216.

With that a fresh rebuilt glide or 350 trans, new drive shaft and a proper rear axle you are probably looking at 1500 to 2000 to do the swap. More if you have to pay someone to do it.

I'd call Tom Langdon and ask him about the adapter and why he says it won't work with a 216 though. He is a world of knowledge on this sort of thing.
