55.2-59 Sound deadening doors

So Im adding 3m sound deadening to the back half and top of my cab and Im going to order Noico stuff for the floors and firewall, but when it comes to the doors how did you apply the sound deadening stuff to them, I may run the TMI Panels for the inside of the truck and in that case I may just put the sound deadening stuff on the interior cab portion of the doors since access to the inside is very small. When you close the doors they sound so loud , I want a alternative and Im curious as to what people have done on here .has anyone use the 3m expansion foam for the bottom portion of doors.how did you apply the layers to the inside of your door in small strips?

I put it in sheets 12x24 ,stuck sheets in freezer for 1 hour not sticky then,very easy to get in position and start rolling. It gets sticky again real quick. I did both sides of each door and came out great. Long handle rollers work great for bottom, shorter for top,

Did you take the backing off before you put it in the freezer?

Paper was left in place ,just peeled one side for easy start. It will not stay hard very long . Gets tacky again fast. you get maybe 2 minutes and its very sticky again. My doors feel very solid now .

I also overlapped all the seams, saves time in cutting to fit I used Fatman and Noico:
Noico was easier to get in and roll out

So with the remaining 3m stuff I had I cut the sheets in 6" by 12" pieces and put them in my door , in as many and as far as I could reach in the doors and what a difference. The doors shut with a nice thud, compared to the tingy hollow sound as of before!

I currently have my doors off, stripped of all inerts, and in primer. Thinking this may be the best time to apply some sheets of Dynamat, etc. Anyone think of a reason to wait? Final blocking and painting shouldn't have any adverse effects, right?

Do it Jim , may be easier to reach in . Im also still considering the 3m foam for the bottom of the doors i watch enough videos on the product last night, may just use enough to fill the bottom third of the doors.

Just a thought - wouldn't spraying foam in the bottom prevent any moisture/water from draining out the drainage holes and actually, possibly retain moisture at the bottom of the door? There must be a way for water to escape, even with the best window seals.

Use lizard Skin ,a paint brush and foam roller . Not foam!water will not drain out and may cause rust in other areas. Or use Waxanol or make your own . A lot of water passes through these doors.

good point , no foam it is! I love the way the doors sound now , they sound so much more solid. Now I understand why people go crazy with this stuff.

Heres a thought. The original doors lasted decades with nothing but paint. Many began rusting out the minute dirt and debris collected and the weep holes clogged. Even the best sound deadening provides some moisture retention so just a thought.

Try this,works great.Easy to use and last a long time . rust need oxygen to keep rusting . This will do that and more
