Solving an age old problem with the horrible factory armrests.
I have been working on this project for a few months. Hours and hours of modeling and a few prototypes later we have a completed concept.
6061 2 piece armrest. the top is removable with .020" of quench clearance to lock down whatever material the top is covered in. I chose Alcantara for the top and will polish out the lower to match the rest of the NOS parts in the pictures. Tell me your thoughts. |

It's beautiful...but what was so horrible about the originals?

Wife says not deep enough to close door with wrecking her nails. I thought of machining a 3/8" aluminum spacer for stock pads myself.

Roger. I guess my nails were never long enough to notice.

Looks good. Possible minor nit: make sure the exposed edges on the metal in the hand area are rounded to avoid fingertip cuts.

Re: Solving an age old problem with the horrible factory armrests.
Based on what I saw, figured you had accounted for that but I am one of those with the "Find the sharp edge on the Bowling Ball" talent.
Any thought to making some for the earlier version arm rests like my 75 has? |
