Chevy and BOP transmissions

I recently purchased a nice 4x4 frame that came with a TH350 trans. The trans of course was intended to hook to a transfer case. I intend to run a solid axle front end without the differential. I’m having trouble locating a tail cone for the trans but ran across a cheap B.O.P 350. My question is would the tail cone and shaft fit my Chevy transmission?

Re: Chevy and BOP transmissions

welcome..
i have no idea what a b.o.p. trans or engine is...but you have to have a 2wd output shaft as well ...be much easier to just find a 2wd trans...especially if you don't know the condition of what you have...

Re: Chevy and BOP transmissions

only difference in the bop is the bellhousing. but you have to take the trans completely apart to change the tailshaft to a 2wd one.

Re: Chevy and BOP transmissions

4x4 trans has a shorter main shaft than a 2x4. You can’t just add the tailhousing and make it work.

Re: Chevy and BOP transmissions

If the BOP TH350 trans is a 2WD model the tailhousing and output shaft will fit your Chevy TH350. The transmission will have to be taken apart to change the output shaft because it is held internally by a snap ring. You could just use the BOP trans with a TCI Adapter Plate as the dowel pins and 2 of the bolt holes are the same between the 2 cases. Send Me a PM if you have any questions.

Re: Chevy and BOP transmissions

Thank you....The transmission that came with the frame is supposedly rebuilt. I was not aware that the transmission needed to be disassembled to have a longer shaft installed. I thought the tail shaft was independent of the rest of the transmission.

I guess I’ll just sell the trans I have and buy another. I’d prefer a 400 any way.

Re: Chevy and BOP transmissions

A TH400 will take a different yoke and mount than the TH350.
