Brake drums

Hi all, I am replacing the front brake drums on my 65 C10. I ground off the rivet heads and was able to separate the drum from the hub. I am unable to remove the rest of rivet from the hub so far. I could just finish grinding it flat with the hub surface? I just wondered what you all have been doing. Thanks in advance and stay safe.

Re: Brake drums

I dont see why you couldn't do that, but couldn't you also just put the drum back on in the same position so as to allow the remains of the rivets to pass thru the orginal holes?

Re: Brake drums

Thank you AcampoDave. My only concern about lining up the exposed remains of the rivet with the holes in the drum is that down the road someone may not index the drum correctly with the hub. This is not very likely as the truck isn't going anywhere and your idea is still being considered. Thanks again.

Re: Brake drums

Grind them flush and pop them out with a punch and hammer.
