1951 vent window hardware help...

Hey guys,
I'm rebuilding my vent windows and needed to replace the missing handle for driver side. Well, I ordered one up, that came with the handle, roll pin, and washer, but it didn't come with the piece that the handle mounts to (the piece that the roll pin goes through.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find this part? I can't seem to track it down anywhere.

Thanks
-Nick

Re: 1951 vent window hardware help...

Hi Zippy,
Thank you, but I already have the new rivet.

What I need is the piece of hardware that goes through the vent glass frame and is used to secure the vent handle. Right now I have a vent frame with an opening where this missing piece needs to go. I have the new handle and roll pin, but I need the piece that the roll pin goes through to secure the handle.

Does that make sense?

Thanks
Nick

Is this (these) triangle pieces what you are looking for?

This is the passenger side door off the 51 Cab I am cutting in half to make the back half of my stretch cab. I'm also using the back foot or so of the doors. to stretch my doors.

The Filling Station didn't show them and if they don't show things they usually don't exist.

Not sure. May have to buy the whole frame.

Re: 1951 vent window hardware help...

I tried to get that one off but it is held on with two rivets. I ran out of daylight but the wing frame is useless to me and not worth trying to sell so my curiosity has me wanting to cut the piece off tomorrow and take the lever off to see if it will work for left or right . Educational experience for me. Maybe a part for you.

YES!
There is some piece of hardware that goes through that triangle piece, which is the piece I need! That triangle piece is part of the vent window frame.

If you're willing to rip that one apart (assuming its the driver side) I'll happily pay you for it and shipping to my house.

Below is my frame, showing the hole where the missing part would go, so you can clearly see what I need.

Thank you!!

I'll take that one apart for educational purposes it looks like that pin is part of the triangle piece though. The handle is pitted too bad for anyone to want to use it and the frame has no value to me.

Re: 1951 vent window hardware help...

I found out that the piece in the wing window frame is right or left.

I got the left one out and then found one in a 52/53 door out back that had the glass broken out and the wing window frame already half broken out of the door.

I did get a tad close to it with the flap wheel as the metal of the window frame was a lot thinner than I thought. it may not be an issue but a dab of JB weld would level it out.

USPS smallest priority mail box is 8.30 if that works.

I did find that If you are driving those roll pins out a 3/32 pin punch works great.

Re: 1951 vent window hardware help...

I found some JB weld in my tool box to level that spot out if the JB weld ever gets hard.

Funny side note, I didn't even know that I had any pushbutton doors on the place. They came from a big truck a friend had sitting in his barn yard that he stripped off and brought me a load of stuff that I had pretty well forgotten about.
