Trans Swap

What would it take to put a 1976 3 speed manual trans with column shift in a 1966 C-10 pickup . What would it take to convert it?

Re: Trans Swap

Well does the 66 have a straight six? If so the rear engine/trans cross member needs to come out. Likely need to install a transmission mount cross-member. Possible drive shaft length change. Column shift linkage change. Install a trans fluid cooler. I'm sure I'm missing something.

Re: Trans Swap

A 1976 3 speed manual trans should bolt right up to your bellhousing, unless the front bearing retainer is 5-1/8" in diameter instead of 4-13/16". Not sure about the shift arms or the size of the yoke and u-joint needed.
