Header to fuel line clearance
Been working on massaging things into place for header fitment while not beating things up!
72 C10 Hedman elite heavy duty On the passenger side, all 3 fuel lines are right up against the header, I have tried to just push them back (more into the channel of the frame), even if I added another hold-down clip, I don't feel they would be far enough away. I am thinking my best option is to reconfigure the lines to run on the bottom channel of the frame? Any other ideas? Pictures of your solutions? Where the brake line curves about the frame is also very close, I think it may end up being between two of the header tubes which I might get lucky and it wont hit or a little tweaking to get it between two of the tubes versus lined right up with them. Hopefully the visual makes sense with them being wrapped in foam/packing tape. Its wrapped tight so not really making a difference from a fitment standpoint. |

IIRC, my feul lines in that area are tight up against the frame. I'd start there and then shield them with a piece of tin with good air gaps on both sides of the tin. I don't have headers, but this should get you in a good way.

In my opinion you’ll be fine if you get the lines all the way into the frame and use a heat shield. If the shield basically caps the frame where all the tubes pass the amount of heat transfer to those lines will be negligible. I’d make the shield with a L shaped profile to go under the frame and let and heat from the shield radiate out from the small gap at the top of the frame.
There is insulation for lines out there to use in place of or in addition to a heat shield.

Why do you still have 3 fuel lines on an old truck?????
Is it for the Evap can on the 72 and up or Cali model???? Do you have fuel injection and need to keep them? I would rip the 2 extra ones out and get rid of the weight and future problems. |

thanks for the ideas so far... does anyone recall if there was a hold down clip at the top of the frame up in the area where mine are not tucked back and touching??
I don't have any left over from when I disassembled. |

here is where I am currently at. bottom photo as well to show factory position.
I am thinking I will relocate the fuel feed line to the bottom channel of the frame as soon as my tubing bender shows up. I think it will be plenty far away without the need for heat shielding. |
