66 c10 Stepside Chrome Bumpers
Is there a way to tell if you have originals verses repops?
I was interested in the front chrome guards but read the ones at the car part stores only fit repop bumpers. |

I may be wrong, but I thought I read that chrome bumpers on a stepside were not an option only painted bumpers were offered.

Re: 66 c10 Stepside Chrome Bumpers
I'm pretty positive the chrome one that was on my 65 was aftermarket. It wasn't on it when I sold it in the 80's, and the chrome on the inside is pealing off.

Re: 66 c10 Stepside Chrome Bumpers
My aftermarket that came on my truck when I bought it are peeling and rusting...I picked up 2 OEM painted bumpers last year...I will eventually have them chromed, but for now I am going to use painted originals.

Re: 66 c10 Stepside Chrome Bumpers
As you probably already gathered from the other responses, the easiest way to tell is that re-pops are usually noticeably inferior. The metal is of a lighter guage, the chrome is thin and the fit is not as good. Last one I installed warped like a funhouse mirror when i tightened it down. Perhaps " just like original" ones are out there...but I have yet to see one

Re: 66 c10 Stepside Chrome Bumpers
My 62 stepside came with front and rear chrome bumpers from the factory. Option code was 393L. The dealer added the front bumper guards for $11.91
