Gas tank fitment?

After having stored it for quite a long time, went to install a very good condition behind-the-seat fuel tank only to find that it has what looks like some sort of a return line at the tank opening - just adjacent to the output line, and there is another line coming out at the top of the tank on pass side - maybe a vent?. Shape/size of tank looks like it will fit but am thinking that this is not standard for a 67-72 Chev/GMC. Anybody know about this?

I can defeat the extra tubes as needed - but will this one bolt into a 67-72? Thanks for any expertise/knowledge shared.

Re: Gas tank fitment?

Are u sure that is not a 72 with ecc?
Pics would be great. My 72 tank has two vent on the end for a expansion loop tube that goes up the side of the cab. And a drain back on the filler neck . A suction and return on the float assembly

No, am not sure - simply have not seen one with these extra lines. My 72 Longhorn does not have such plumbing and the other72s (Blazer, MoHome, etc. ) do not have tanks behind the seat. Maybe you nailed it - what is "ecc" - is that the arrangement with the charcoal canister in the front right fender well? Do you happen to know if 73+ model behind seat tanks are same size/shape and have mounting hole config?

Thanks.

Re: Gas tank fitment?

The 3/4 ton and up typically did not have the emissions. Only the 1/2 ton.

Re: Gas tank fitment?

I was going to install one but I ran into problems trying to clean the tank out and gave up. I made a similar post. Tank should still work, you jist gotta cap off the vent and a certain fuel cap. Can't remember if it was vented cap or not. Someone will chime in

Re: Gas tank fitment?

Thanks for the photos and placement info from bigmac73 and the cap info from vitamin c95. Questions answered and doubts removed. This is the tank I have - will plug the two not needed lines and use a vented cap. Much appreciated.

Re: Gas tank fitment?

actually I recommend using the vent on the end of the tank ,just run a long loop up the cab corner and then back down out the bottom of the cab. plus a vented cap
