57 gmc hood on a 56 gmc?
The hood that came on my 56 is pretty rough. I have found one off of a 57 that’s in great shape. The guy that’s selling it says it will fit but he could just be trying to sell it. Anyone know if this will fit?
I appreciate your help Thank you |

It should fit with no problems.
Only difference is the spears in the 57 hood. Kim |

As Kim said it will fit . 57 GMC hood is pretty rare with ribs on top and front emblem opening.
Be sure to check that it is not off a big truck. |

Just measure your 56 hood that you have . Then measure the GMC hood . Compare

Re: 57 gmc hood on a 56 gmc?
Hopefully some one can tell you the easy ways to tell the difference between 55/57 GMC /and Chevy small truck/big truck hoods. I'm thinking that as on the AD trucks the 1-1/2 and 2 ton trucks have a slightly longer hood than the 1/2 to 1 ton trucks. I am not positive on that one as the top of the fender line is the same even though the wheel opening is larger.
55/56 Chevy small truck hood will fit too but you loose that GMC hole in the front that some GMC fanatics view as a sacrilege when you do it.

Re: 57 gmc hood on a 56 gmc?
That is just the 3100 section from GM heritage center 56 truck page https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf
Scrolling down it there is no info as to if there is a difference in length of the hood or front fenders as there is on the AD trucks. Best is to just measure the old hood down the middle and get a couple of measurements to write down and then measure the 57 hood.
