Had to smile when I saw your new ride. Had the same truck once, also a big block automatic. Couple things I remember well about that truck: Top out at about 55 mph, between 6 to 9 miles per gallon, and the worst riding truck I have ever owned ( exception : 2000 pounds or more on the flatbed and she rode like a dream certainly the coolest looking old hauler i’ve ever had. I like to look at it a lot more than actually driving it.

Anyway, back to your question, unless you were going wild with a LS swap, axle change etc etc. keep it simple and easy :Keep it stock and make it run well and reliable for a back up truck. Make it as pretty as possible in its original state, maybe even letter it to match your business and use it as a calling card out front.........

Grill guard, CB, hat holder, vent shades, wheel spinner, saddle blanket seat cover, a sliding rear window, and mud flaps.

Or, add a screen to the flat bed and could turn that into a rolling drive-in theater as a side business.

I'm quite sure that was a craigslist score off a ranch near Healdsburg I think? What's the rear axle ratio, 4.10 with an auto I'm guessing.

I too saw it a while back
When you brought it up on the cl thread again
I figured, what the heck, it’s only 15 minutes away
Went and met the cowboy who was selling it
It was a bit rougher than I had hoped for
And I really don’t buy trucks without spid
But, it was an original BB automatic
So
I offered less than half the asking price
That didn’t work,
And he showed me the gate I just came in
After mentioning he also was restoring
A SWB Cheyenne Super
I didn’t even drive the truck
But I always save phone #s
A few days later I shot him a text showing him the tailgate handle
Chrome trim, only Supers had
He asked if I might want to trade some parts
Along with $ for the flatbed
We ended up talking again, and both got to our
Happy spot
Set up a time so I could go drive it
Smelled like cow or horse dung in the cab
Not really sure which
But, I’ve always liked flatbeds
And it just drove tight, was fast , loud
And as bumpy as all the rest of them

I kind a like them myself. Drive it as is. Mine definitely ride better with a load but none of mine are crazy stiff. Maybe it’s because they are all 157” wheelbase.

Just a neat chore boy to bop around in. As far as the trend of pulling a truck for sale then relisting for more goes, that is exactly what I did when selling the '71 custom/30 wrecker I had. It had nothing to do with Barrett-Jackson or anybody telling me it was worth more. I would list it and only get lowball offers with no one actually coming to look. I got tired of saying, "Come take a look at the truck, then tell me why you think it's not worth my asking price". I decided it was listed so low it was attracting flippers who will always try for less even if asking price is stupid low. The nature of that beast is create the largest gap between purchase price and resell price with nothing else considered, just make money. I was listing at a priced to sell amount because I don't play games, just wanted it gone before I decided to keep it. So I listed it at 30% more and it sold in a day to someone a couple states away

Congrats... it looks like a real solid truck that will need minimal work to make it a good driver. I seriously thought about going and looking at the truck but had better thoughts on a second dually flatbed. If I would have brought that in my driveway my wife would have greeted me with a whole lot of Portuguese.

Clean it up and use it. I made my 64' cattle truck a flatbed, 12' bed, rides like a Cadillac. Cow and horse **** falls off of it when working on it, when it get wet, it smell like cow piss.

My 71 with a 12' bed and now with its 10" bed.
445s will fit under that bed with room to spare and possibly remove the block and a leaf or two as well.

Clean slate there to do whatever you want to. The old cowboy could use a drink of water and maybe a bath. I sure do miss the 133" dually I had.

Harrison, AR dealer bumper, ey? A certain member comes to mind. I love those western state pride mudflaps. I've used them for floor mats.

I like this one as it is, relatively unmolested. It's cool looking aged and would be a really nice one to make it a freshy fresh brochure picture truck. People would see a neat truck and if those who know the trucks got a peak under the hood they would be awed.
