Anyone Have a Restoration Checklist Template? 72 K1500

Taking stock on what needs to be reconditioned, replaced or upgraded on my 72 GMC K1500. Very quickly realized I needed some way to organize, prioritize and budget time and $$ to minimize rework.

Hoping I'm not the only one who likes lists and a good plan... Does anyone have a Restoration Checklist template they used for their builds so I don't have to start from scratch?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure there is any right or wrong to sequence the restoration. You will develop your own sequence of tasks based on chunks of time available and a change of pace. For instance when you totally sick of the body work, you will switch to something more instantly gratifying such as instrument cluster restoration. So, be flexible and go with the flow. Weather will make you change your plans as well.

If you new to restoration work, I think there is a book on the market that will walk you through the restoration of the 67-72 trucks.

You could get Kevins book

First question would be what issues does your K10 have ?
What are you thinking of building up

You talking nut and bolt frame off "restoration"? Or just fixing up an old truck to have some fun with it. Big difference.

Re: Anyone Have a Restoration Checklist Template? 72 K1500

Ultimately working towards a full restoration, but wanting to keep it as a driver while going through it as opposed to blowing it apart and putting it back together over a couple of years (which would probably turn into longer with 2 small kids, work, house projects, etc.).

It's a strong runner and not a terrible looker, searched far and wide for one without any rust issues (has a couple of small surface rust areas but that's it). But it is completely original so all the rubber needs to be replaced, the entire interior needs to be restored or replaced, will sound deaden and heat shield, add vintage air, add upgraded stock radio and better audio, going to cut and buff original paint for now, go through all mechanicals and rebuild or upgrade where needed/wanted, looking to do a 4" lift, probably sticking with the 350 - but wanting to add some more HP, would like an overdrive for the turbo 350, move gas tank under bed with side marker or tail light filler, and the list goes on and on...

I guess what I am really looking for is a checklist or spreadsheet of all the parts, systems, etc. to start off with and modify to work for my specific rebuild.

Polish it up and make sure it's mechanically sound then enjoy it. Get a harness set-up so the little ones can more safely enjoy the ride. It's only original once so I would avoid doing anything that can't be undone such as relocating the gas tank or a large lift requiring new steering components or brake lines.
