H052 Parts Source and Brake Parts for 3/4
I am rebuilding the Eaton H052 3/4 rear end in my 1966 truck. Does anyone on the forum know a good source for the backing plates and other parts to restore the rear and the complete brake system to original?
Thanks Frank |

Re: H052 Parts Source and Brake Parts for 3/4
Not sure what exactly you need for the rear, but all seals, gaskets and bearings should be available at a local "real" parts house that knows how to read a parts book. Chain stores won't be much help. Be aware that some parts are kind of pricey When I recently went through mine I only replaced the parts that were bad after being inspected by a local pro. The good news is if given a steady diet of clean oil those rears will last forever and the stuff like Ring gears that aren't available new are easy to find used. In fact, I just took apart a nice rear from a '66 K20 that I would be happy to share, although the shipping might be a problem.
As far as brake parts, back plates are a used item, but if it's a C20 everything else should be easy to get local. If it's a K20 things can be more of a challenge, especially for the front, But I have managed to find everything, so can help with specifics if needed As a last tip, if you are tearing that rear down anyway, the best thing you can do for it is weld in a bung for a drain plug. That was the only thing GM missed. Good luck with the project, Tom

Re: H052 Parts Source and Brake Parts for 3/4
There is a thread here about what parts from a 14 bolt will work on a HO52. I believe it is in the engine and drivetrain section. Personally, I would scrap the HO52 and install a 10.5" 14 bolt with better gears.
