Check your fuses

If you do have tail lights, then it'll be bulbs, fuse, turn signal switch or lack of power coming to the turn signal switch/brake light switch.

Check your plug underneath for wiring power for different operation.. if its got power there then you know its back from there somewhere...probably grounds...seems it happens often.

First guess is the ground. On my 69 a few months ago I had no brake or turn lights in the back, everything up front worked. I checked the ground couldnt find a problem. Turns out the battery was a little too weak. I had to crank it quite a bit that day to get it started and doing so drained the battery. Just had to let it sit running a while to get it charged up.

The rear lights are grounded by the bolts that hold them on. They can get rusty under there. I had this problem with my truck. Instead of trying to clean, I bolted a wire to each one and grounded them.

I have to agree with Andy, sounds like the "bright" filaments are burned out in the bulbs.

Grounds are WAY over rated on these trucks. Any problem that anyone has, everyone starts yellin grounds.
Sure, I do realize grounds are important, and I go over board on my grounds on my initial 'getting it on the road' work. However, only once have I had problems after that.
Remember, the amps taken to light the parking lights is not much less than the amp requirement to light the brake lights. What are we talkin...mayber 2amps between the two? (Probably less) If the parking lights work, then the ground has a 99.999% chance of being good.

Actually now that I think about it, the time I had that problem some of my lights in the rear were working, I think I just had the plate light and none of the others. So try charging up your battery real good and see if that takes care of it.

Being that these trucks are 30 years old things start wearing out. The connectors to the lights stay on fairly good but the grounds don't. Example, the side marker lights with the ground going into the bedside, the wire usually breaks off or the nut holding the lug might even rust. 9 times out of 10 wether it is these trucks or a trailer connection or what ever, the cause of my problems is a ground. I have even had cases were the ground was completely gone and some lights worked but weirdly, the circut was getting completed with the ground finding another path through the wires going to the other lights.
