Lokar column shift kit
I'm getting ready to install my new Flaming River steering column.
I plan to purchase the Lokar column shift kit ACA-1800 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lok-aca-1800 When reading the reviews it seems that some C10 owners, complain that the supplied rod (21") is too short for some applications. they offer a longer (26") rod, but it only available separately for around $20.00, extra. Has anyone installed this column shift kit ? Any feedback would be appreciated from anyone who has actually used this kit. |

Re: Lokar column shift kit
http://www.truckandcarshop.com/trucks60_72/t60_064.html If you go here, scroll down and look to the left, you will find they have a kit with a 23" rod. I have one but have not used it yet. I think I have the Lokar one in my other truck but not 100% sure since it has been a while since I put it in. I believe it is a lokar and it works ok.

Re: Lokar column shift kit
That's what I used on my truck with a TH350. Worked just fine.

Re: Lokar column shift kit
I believe that is the one I used for my 700R4.

Re: Lokar column shift kit
I had to order the longer rod for mine. If I had it to do over I would use the cable type. I only say that because I had a hard time keeping the rod from binding. With that being said the guy that installed my 700r4 got it to work vary well.

Re: Lokar column shift kit
That is the kit I used as the shift linkage for my 4L80e and column shift combo. It worked perfectly in my case. The only things I did differently from what the instructions detailed was I mounted the rod end to the firewall side of the steering column selector bracket, and I machined a spacer and used a longer bolt at the transmission gear selector bracket. This helped with the angle between the two brackets in my case.
