Poor man's aluminum headlight bezel

Finishing my truck soon..getting down to the final stages...I am working on the grille area. My steel headlight bezels were rusted and a little pitted. Trying to keep my truck as original as possible for as cheap as possible..I decided I would try to save them.

I sandblasted one and then sanded with 220 and then 320 grit paper. Knowing if I do nothing else to them, they will rust again...I am going to clear coat them after being cleaned up.

Only took 20 minutes or so...I could probably shine them up a little more, but no point...these will be good for my truck. It's not a show truck.

Here is a side by side comparison between an old rust bezel to a "new" cleaned bezel.

I am sure people have done this many times before, but I was excited to save a little $ and make them nicer than before.

Thanks...I got the other one finished too and they both look the same and so much better than before. I will post pictures after I clear coat them both this week.

I just got that dually, it was a farm truck...I knew the tires were shot. There is no name brand that I saw on them. It says "Premium traction grip" and "Nylon 8 ply".

Looks good.
Chakah had done something similar with a grill in a previous thread.

Poor man's aluminum grill (chrome)?
https://youtu.be/KBtdU10PIcE.

.
I have two 64-66 painted grills. I think I might try the Rust-Oleum chrome spray paint. The worst it could look is like faded aluminum.
