1988- for me ....but

went to look at an 88 burb today. clean truck for the year. drove it. seemed to have more pick up than my 97 daily tahoe.

window.
fronts do NOT go down.
backs do go down. pass rear all the way
driver rear half way down and then a loud clicking noise. but the window does not go lower.

need to know how to
FIX- this would be #1 as i am a smoker.

when moving into gears, i didn't notice any movement. where normally you see it go from gear to gear.

gas gauge could be not working-- SAME AS MY CURRENT DAILY- didn't want to drop the tank on the daily. hope i wouldn't have to on this one.

any help would be great. specially where to start with the window fix.
may buy this truck this weekend.

thanks

With the Windows, take the door panel off and see if the power window motor is getting power. While you're in there, take a look at the condition of the track and clean/regrease if needed. I've fixed some older cars just be regreasing the window slides/track but it wont help if the regulator, motor, or switch have gone bad or you arent getting power. I assume its a power window, anyway.

for the gas gauge - what does it do? Peg to either empty or full, or just sit in one place somewhere on the gauge?

I'm not all that familiar with the in steering column pieces that move the shift marker. I know there's some plastic bits in there that get worn or break relatively commonly but I haven't jumped into those waters on my truck yet. I just live with it.

All of that sounds just like my 1991 Suburban that we traded in this year.

It also had sagging rear springs and loose as a goose steering box.
