What does this mutt want to be when it grows up?
Saw this on a semi local book of face... does anyone know if any of this looks familiar? I thought the vertical side markers and one piece (no separate whipper surround) setup was through the 1980 model year and then went to the later style in '81 with only rectangle headlights available (I know single rectangles were an upgrade option in 1980). Never seen a round headlight horizontal marker light rig before... what do y'all think? Am I right that this is Frankenstein's Monster 2.0?

early 1980? Some had round eyes I believe.....
I can't say for sure but why would they make fenders for round eyes and a seperate one for the Squares?

Re: What does this mutt want to be when it grows up?
It was my understanding that the whole '80 run used the '73-'80 fenders and core support and the base option was round headlights but they had a special package with different buckets and bezels that bolted into the normally round headlight core support for that one year only. I believe this rectangle option was standard on Silverados and optional on all lower trims... 1981 should have been the major redesign from my understanding with all new front sheet metal. Just never seen or heard of round headlights with the newer sheet metal. I kinda like the look...

Re: What does this mutt want to be when it grows up?
Wonder why they are advertising it as an 80? Fenders and all are the 81 up style. I don't think they started mid year of 80 with the change, but definitely seems to be a combination of something.

I think the dash would tell you all the answers most parts trucks don’t get the wires messed with! I’m guessing 86 from the brake booster.. but I’ve only had four square and I see parts to all of them

Re: What does this mutt want to be when it grows up?
My kids ‘80. He saw a pic of my old ‘80 square eye and liked it, so we swapped a guy the lights/bezel/buckets. I think the option was using the setup off the Blazers/Burbans...

Re: What does this mutt want to be when it grows up?
As was already stated it was a '81 and up that someone was trying to retrofit round lights into- nothing special. The fenders, marker lights, wipers in the cowl all are dead giveaways that it is a '81 and newer truck.
1980 was the only year round and rectangle headlights were offered. Rectangle lights were part of the V22 package that could be ordered but was also included as part of the YE9 Silverado trim package and Z77 Sport package on Blazer, Suburban and Pickups.

Re: What does this mutt want to be when it grows up?
That is what I figured but thank you for confirming it. I have a '75 cab that I swapped to the later style fenders, core support and hood because mine were wrecked and it was what I could get but I just moved it all over lock, stock and barrel and made the few small mods to the cab to support the later hood hinges...
