35x12.5 tire
I am thinking of ditching my 16.5x8.75 for a set of 15x12 rims. The question I have is will a 35x12.5 work and look ok on a 12" rim? Eventually I plan on going to a 37x13.5 when the price gets more reasonable.

Most manufacturers recommend 10" wide rims for a 12.5 tire. I've seen 12.5 tires on 12" wide rims and for street driving should be fine but you get the truck a little off camber and you'll probably loose the bead, wouldn't take much. Probably couldn't use the full load rating of the tire either. Even the 13.5 tire would be the same as the 12.5. Tires I've seen that recommend 12" wide rims are for example the 33/15.5-15 super swampers and in that case its 10-12" wide rim. Be careful.

I agree with Jim. A 15X12 rim is too wide for a 12.5" tire. I would go with a 15X10 or 15X8. Personally, I went with a 15X10 for my 35X12.5's.
