Power steering conversion 69 to 75 Power Steering box
Hello
I’m not sure if anyone else is having this problem. I had a heck of a time finding a good steering box from this era. I received two from autozone that the threads were completely stripped on coupler and pitman arm. WTF? I found one online that was pretty nice. He talked a little bit and he said they are getting harder to find. Prices have sky rocketed to 4 to 500 bucks. I didn’t realize these are in such high demand. I do noticed if I go to the junkyard and see a c10 the power steering box is always gone. So maybe I should start collecting them? |

Awesome! They look great! 15:1 ratio?

I totally agree...I try to buy American first and foremost or German (my heritage also) second. I also like the fact you can change the turn ratio and add hydraulic steering ports. |

Re: Power steering conversion 69 to 75 Power Steering box
It is what i have on my '64 longbed. I'm trying to stay mostly stock with it so I actually bought the stock manual steering box from Redhead. I did have an issue with grease weeping out of the seal for the pitman arm shaft, but I sent them a quick pic of the problem and they sent me a UPS tag and a replacement in no time. I just swaped in the replacement, put the other in the box with the UPS tag, and all was great. Never gonna buy a steering box anywhere else again. Btw, I've never driven a manual box with zero play until I went with Redhead. It really does enhance the driving experience not to be continually making those tiny corrections while motoring down the open road.

Hello
I just remember not that long ago they were going for. Around 180 bucks for a decent rebuilt power steering box. Noe they shot up in price that’s all. Pete 👍🏻 |

Got mine off rockauto, did not have a core unfortunately. Would have brought price down to like $75.
