You guys are a bad influence.
I have been a member for several years and I was perfectly satisfied with my 68' C-20. Now I am retired and was looking for a frame because my truck has a bit of a z in it and wanders left and right. I found a whole truck for $1500 and now I think it is too nice to part out. Might just get the 68' frame straightened and have to build this one! 72' Custom 20 with V-8,factory air, power steering and power brakes. Blue with white top. Not much rust. I think I have the sickness!

What was the problem again?.... Nice score btw....interested to see what a scotch brite and some CLR would do to restore some color.

Re: You guys are a bad influence.
Great Truck at a Great Price! At one point in my life I wanted a classic vehicle for every day of the week...in my 40's I figured it out that 2 was more than enough, but the 'itis got me and 3 will have to do (until the next one comes along).
Enjoy the rides!!!

Re: You guys are a bad influence.
Couple of more pictures. Showed my wife what a nice one looks like and she is on board. I sold a 70' Cutlass and a 46' ford coupe to move us to the country and get out of DFW so she knows I want another project.

Re: You guys are a bad influence.
I found mine on Fort Smith craigslist. Stuff here goes for less money. I just moved here from North Texas. I couldn't afford to live there. My house taxes were almost $4.000 a year. Now they are $700 for a house and 13 acres with a 30 x 50 shop.

Re: You guys are a bad influence.
Nice truck score and good to hear you got yourself an acreage with a shop on it. Those cheaper taxes are a huge plus too.

Re: You guys are a bad influence.
OMG, living in NH with no income tax and no sales tax is great but my property taxes are 14K a year. That is a decent house and garage on less than 3 acres so not extravagant. I don't think I can retire here just because of the property tax.

My primary home property tax is less than 3k . The rental is about 7k my moms is over 15k a year . Mine are low because the city of NY pays tax on their land and reservoirs. And use non of the of the town services . They even have NYC DEP cops for their properties. It's always been location location location .

Re: You guys are a bad influence.
We have an active classic car community here. Lots of vintage trucks and cars. Town of 5700 people. Love the peace and quiet and my neighbors love my truck. We have a big car show once a year that starts up at Queen Wilhelmina lodge and drives down 13 miles to Mena,Ar. where they shut down the main street and display the cars. 2020 rod run was cancelled but hopefully they will have it this year. I will take my 68' with my 50's camper that weekend.

Re: You guys are a bad influence.
Buying a 71 or 72, you can't go wrong...already have disc brakes, even though it's a 3/4 ton, it's still a great pickup. I've seen someone here, lower a 3/4 ton a little, I liked it. It looked like a 1/2 ton, sorta...
If it was mine, I'd just get it mechanically sound, and go from there! |

Re: You guys are a bad influence.
Yeah, my 68' has four wheel disc brakes. I converted the front to 85" C-20 parts and swapped a 2002 14 bolt rear with discs. Used the saddles from Captain Fab. Worked out great. The truck only had the front drums working when I bought it. This 72' might stay stock.
