value orig 2wd vs converted 4wd to 2wd
all things being equal on a build how much difference in value would you say?

IMO, not much. Same goes with original VS restomod.
These trucks are not like Hemi cars or super rare COPO cars where number matching matters. The truck itself is in demand, not the options it came with. |

Agree that non-OEM drivetrains don't seem to impact value much. That said, it's unusual to to find a K5 with an original drivetrain or an example that's restored versus rebuilt. A survivor 4wd 72 example recently sold on BAT for $58k and one restored 4wd 72 brought almost $80k over a year ago at BJ. Perhaps with the leap in recent values the few original examples will see higher valuation. A restored 2wd would certainly stand out against the crowd of modified/converted examples.
I'd place a greater value on originality and believe others would too but either way they fetch a pretty penny.
