Meet “George” the 1964 C10 Fleetside LWB
Hello from sunny northern CA! just joined the group after reading many of your stories, builds, etc. We have a 1964 C10, the expanded story is on my “Welcome” thread if you are interested.
This truck is in pretty decent shape and although I wouldn’t claim “Rust Free” as I have read about, it has minimal rust (some areas of our country/hemisphere might call it rust free!) Bought it about 2 years ago and done nothing except clean it out, I start it up every month or so but thanks to reading your inspirational stories I’m now ready to get it going and put to work as a daily driver, (also, if it keeps sitting my wife is going to make me get rid of it!) I will post some photos here and create a build thread with a bunch more photos. The PO(s) did some work to it, adding a 350 V8 GM crate motor, radiator with electric fan, wider rear wheels, DUI distributor, seat cover. It has a few problems I will list in the build thread and get your help! I also recently in the last month acquired a 1963 C50, you can find that in the Heavy Haulers section. Thanks in advance for all your expertise, comments, and help! PS my teen son named the truck “George”, don’t know why, who can figure kids, but the name has stuck

Nice looking ride. Time for a dual master cylinder. Set of stock hub caps and some fresh paint on the wheels will really make it pop.

Welcome. Please, don't just keep your questions limited to your build thread. Posting them here might draw more attention. Guys like me who are busy don't get to the other threads as often as we'd like but we do check in here to see what's new fairly regularly.

Great that you are keeping it largely stock looking. I agree with cwcarpenter98 about the dual masters. I'm still deciding whether or not to spring for disk brakes on the front or just stay with the drums.

Re: Meet “George” the 1964 C10 Fleetside LWB
Sometimes people will use the search box to find an archived thread pertaining to their question and add to it. This brings it "back to life" when it reappears in the thread index. Other folks will start a new thread particularly if the subject is rather unique or relates to something more in the present day.
The thread you have going is great as an introductory thread but when you move on to something different it's probably best to start over. That way you can get a new title in the thread index which may draw additional responses. We're pretty laid back here these days so don't worry too much about the minutiae of thread etiquette. Just stay cordial and you'll fit right in. Good to have you aboard. And btw, I've been to Sunol before. |

I agree, specific questions, new thread with clear title that will help people in future searches. Yes, it's all been asked before. Yes, we don't mind answering it again. Everyone was a rookie here at some point. I couldn't have bought and built my truck without the help of the membership.
