engine swap cooling question
1965 c10 inline 6
Hello, Working on my 65 c10. I found an engine from a 77 c10...another inline 6 but a 250 with power steering pump and a hei….instead of the 230. It bolted right in and hooking up the wiring for the hei and hoses I did a test fire and it runs beautifully. The 250 didn't come with the fan. I had my fan from the 230 but the bolt pattern is different. Looking at the 77 250 online it looked like it came with a fan clutch....got the clutch and fan from orileys but it doesn't fit..the clutch hits the radiator. The 66 didn't have a clutch....so what is the work around for this? I bought another fan that bolts right on but without the clutch it hits the engine..will just a spacer work? Im sure this has a simple answer just stumped me on the correct way to go. thanks any other issues you guys can forsee with the 250? Trans is 3 on tree and Im keeping it that way Thanks |

Re: engine swap cooling question
Most parts stores have various thickness of spacers to extend the fan out further.

Re: engine swap cooling question
George,
After researching it I came to the same conclusion that a spacer with a generic fan with the right bolt pattern should do the trick. Thanks |
